At the end of May 2021, Inner Mongolia Guanshida Chemical Co., Ltd. (Inner Mongolia Guanshida) announced that it would be located in the Tenggeli Economic and Technological Development Zone of Alashan League in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, and would build a production plant there. Supported by the production techniques of its parent company Hebei Guanlong Agrochemical Co., Ltd. (Hebei Guanlong), Inner Mongolia Guanshida will launch a 13,100 t/a fine chemicals and 500 t/a rubber scorching resistnt agent project in the new production plant area. The project is planned to have a total investment of about USD71 million (RMB450 million) and cover an area of 447 mu. Production capacities such as 4,500 t/a perchlormethanethiol, 5,000 t/a captan TC, 1,000 t/a dimethomorph TC, 1,000 t/a carbendazim TC, 1,000 t/a thiophanate-methyl TC, 600 t/a benomyl TC, 500 t/a rubber scorching resistnt agent VE will be formed. Inner Mongolia Guanshida will become important agricultural fungicide production base of Hebei Guanlong once the project is put into production.
Founded in 1987, Hebei Guanlong is one of the key enterprises of China's pesticide industry engaged in development and production of highly-efficient and low-toxic agricultural fungicides. The headquarters of Hebei Guanlong is located in the Circular Economic and Chemical Industrial Park of Hengshui City, Hebei Province, in which the production capacities of 3,000 t/a thiram TC, 2,800 t/a ziram TC, 3,000 t/a captan TC, 500 t/a dimethomorph TC and 20,000 t/a pesticide formulations have been formed. In addition to the production capacities, Hebei Guanlong also has abundant reserved products.
Inner Mongolia Guanshida is a subsidiary of Hebei Guanlong. The 13,100 t/a fine chemicals and 500 t/a rubber scorching resistnt agent project is one of the key industrial projects managed by Inner Mongolia Guanshida after its establishment. In light of the production capacities of Hebei Guanlong in its headquarters and the products engaged in the 13,100 t/a fine chemicals and 500 t/a rubber scorching resistnt agent project, Hebei Guanlong intends to significantly expand the production capacity of captan TC and dimethomorph TC and add the production capacities of carbendazim TC, thiophanate-methyl TC and benomyl TC.
In terms of captan TC, Hebei Guanlong has a strong say in captan TC market now, by virtue of its 3,000 t/a capacity. Hebei Guanlong's plan to expand the production capacity of captan TC will not only improve the company's competitiveness but also help to further improve the overall supply capacity of the product in China. Other captan TC producers in China include Guangdong Greatchem Biotech Co., Ltd. and Ningxia Gerui Fine Chemical Co., Ltd.
In terms of dimethomorph TC, Hebei Guanlong's intention to expand the production capacity dimethomorph TC based on the existing 500 t/a will be good for the company to increase competitiveness in the dimethomorph TC market. In addition to Hebei Guanlong, Shandong Cynda Chemical Co., Ltd. (Shandong Cynda) has increased the production capacity of dimethomorph TC by 2,000 t/a, based on original 500 t/a. The capacity expansion was carried out by Liaoning Cynda Agricultural Science Co., Ltd. (Liaoning Cynda), a subsidiary of Shandong Cynda. But the explosion occurred in Feb. 2020 in Liaoning Cynda resulted in a production suspension of the 2,000 t/a dimethomorph TC production line that had already been in trial production in Dec. 2019. After rectification, production resumption of the production line was approved at the end of Oct., 2020.
It is worth mentioning that in recent years, many other Chinese dimethomorph TC manufacturers including Jiangsu Frey Agrochemicals Co., Ltd. (Jiangsu Frey), Jiangsu Huifeng Bio Agriculture Co., Ltd. (Jiangsu Huifeng) and Jiangsu Henglong Crop Protection Co., Ltd. (Jiangsu Henglong) have also experienced ordeals of safety and environmental protection. To be more detailed, the 200 t/a dimethomorph TC production line of Jiangsu Frey and the 600 t/a dimethomorph TC production line of Jiangsu Henglong have been suspended since April 2018 until now. Although the 900 t/a dimethomorph TC production line of Jiangsu Huifeng was temporarily suspended from production due to safety and environmental protection factors since April 2018, resumption was approved in March 2020.
